Dietitians' top 7 high-protein weight-loss foods

Peanut butter is high in protein and "healthy" fats and low in carbohydrates.

"Eggs help you lose weight," registered dietician Jenn Fillenworth told BI. Eggs are rich in vitamins and minerals and include 6 grams of high-quality protein with all essential amino acids.

"One of my absolute favorite foods for weight loss is salmon," Fillenworth told BI. Although salmon is fatty, she said consuming the appropriate fat doesn't imply you'll gain weight.

“My favorite plant-based protein for weight loss is the black bean,” Fillenworth said. She told BI that black beans are abundant in protein and fiber, which can help ease constipation and bloating, which may cause weight gain.

"High-protein seeds and whole-grain products are another great option," Russo said.  Whole-grain spaghetti and high-protein crackers keep you satiated without as many calories as processed white carbs.

"Low-fat dairy products are also examples of high-protein foods that may be beneficial for weight loss," Russo. She recommended plain, low-fat, or fat-free milk, yogurt, or cheese.
